I've just got to share the good stuff I read.

I love to read. I read every chance I get. If I read something really good, I want to share it with my friends and co-workers. I make copies of magazine articles, read aloud to my students, tell others about good books I'm reading, and keep a book with me at all times.

I love teaching and learning new things. I need a place to share some of the lessons and what my students and I learn. Since my teaching situation is different from everyone else's in my school, I would like to tell all of you in the blog-o-sphere about these great lessons.

Feel free to share what you are reading, teaching and learning with us in the comments.

Memories for New Cousin

February 2nd my cousin Betty became a grandmother. Unfortunately she is not here to hug Heidi Elizabeth.

This baby's birth reminded me of Betty's birth. I was ten years old when Betty was born.

Her mother, my Aunt Billie, was my favorite aunt. Billie was a teacher, graduated from Millsaps, and loved playing games with my brothers and me.  I took Latin in high school because of Aunt Billie's influence. She was also one of the reasons I attended Millsaps.

Memories of my cousin Betty and her brother Bob: When my family moved to Clinton Betty and Bob's parents bought our house on Robinson Street. After a few years there they moved to Florence. Most of my memories of them were made there. They had a large pool, horses and a pony. I loved riding their horses. In summer we looked forward to swimming in their pool. It had a slide and a very deep end.

Back to little Heidi. Today I mailed a quilt, flannel blanket, board book, and note to her in Texas. I hope to meet her one day.

Pink and grey quilt for Heidi with a favorite little board book, a note for her baby book, and copies of photos of her father and grandmother.

Welcome to the family, Heidi Elizabeth!
